Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain language, what TitanTax collects, why, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have.
Who we are
TitanTax (“we”, “us”) is educational tax-strategy software at titantax.dev. Questions about this policy or your data: titantax.ai@outlook.com
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, your password (stored as a one-way hash we can't read), and a display name if you add one.
- Your tax profile: what you enter during setup and in Settings, such as your country, state or province, city, how you earn, yearly income, business structure, dependents, filing status and the kind of work you do.
- Your AI questions and the answers. We may also save short facts you mention (for example, “owns a rental property”) to personalize later answers. You can dismiss them in the app.
- Your Document Vault: the files, photos and notes you add. If you forward receipts to your private vault email address, we also keep the sender's address and the subject line.
- Your plan: which plan you're on and when it renews, from our payment provider. We never see or store your card number.
- Basic technical data our hosting provider records when you visit (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request), used to keep the service running and secure.
What stays on your device
Some things are kept only in your browser's storage: your profile picture, the payouts you log in the income tracker, your monthly checklist progress, and copies of your profile and recent chats that make the app faster. Clearing your browser data removes them, and so does deleting your account (on the device you delete it from).
How we use it
To run TitanTax for you: matching strategies to your profile, answering your questions, reading your receipts, sending password-reset emails, handling your plan and payments, keeping accounts secure, and fixing problems.
We don't sell your information, we don't use it for advertising, and there are no advertising or analytics trackers on this site.
Services that help us run TitanTax
These companies process data for us, only to provide their part of the service:
- OpenAI writes the AI answers and reads your receipts. Your question, the profile details it needs, and (for receipts) the file are sent to OpenAI. Under OpenAI's API terms, data sent this way isn't used to train their models by default.
- Stripe handles payments and billing. You enter your card details with Stripe directly.
- Resend sends password-reset emails and receives the receipts you forward to your vault address.
- Upstash searches our library of tax rules. It receives a numeric version of your question, not your profile.
- Neon is our database. It stores your account, profile, chats and vault files.
- Vercel hosts the website and the app.
Where your data is processed
Our service providers are mostly in the United States, so your information is stored and processed outside Canada (and possibly outside your own country). The laws there may allow authorities in those countries to access it.
Cookies
We use one cookie, to keep you signed in (for up to 7 days). There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is open. You can delete chats and vault files in the app at any time, and you can delete your account, and everything tied to it, anytime in Settings. It's erased right away. Stripe keeps its payment records for as long as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can delete your account yourself anytime in Settings, which also withdraws your consent. To get a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to correct it, email us and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're in Canada and unhappy with how we handled a request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you're in a US state with its own privacy law, you have the rights that law gives you, and you can use them the same way: by emailing us.
Security
Everything travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), passwords are stored as one-way hashes, and access to your data is limited to running the service. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use elsewhere.
Children
TitanTax is for adults. It isn't meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. For significant changes we'll also post a notice on the site.
